Description
Your hens are telling you something β are you able to read the signs?
Thin eggshells. Pale yolks. Reduced laying. A slow, patchy moult. These are not random occurrences β they are nutritional signals. And now, for the first time in Namibia, you have a tool that can identify exactly what is causing them.
The Poultry Nutritional Gap Analyser is an interactive, life-stage specific nutritional analysis tool for backyard and small-scale laying hens. Created by Jolandie Koen β Holistic Animal Practitioner and Pet Nutritionist β it analyses your flock’s current diet across 7 critical nutritional categories and tells you precisely what is missing and how to correct it using natural, affordable whole foods.
This tool is for you if:
π‘ You keep backyard hens and want to feed them well β not just throw scraps and hope for the best.
πΎ You run a small-scale layer operation and reduced production, poor shell quality or high mortality is affecting your income.
π Your hens have stopped laying, are moulting slowly, have pale combs or are producing thin-shelled eggs β and you want to know why.
How it works β 4 simple steps:
You select your flock’s current life stage, log everything they eat from a comprehensive food list, set how often each food is offered, and receive your full personalised report.
What makes this tool unique β Life Stage Scoring:
Every stage of a hen’s life carries completely different nutritional priorities. This tool scores each nutrient category based on your flock’s specific stage:
π£ Chick Starter (0β8 weeks) β High protein priority. Calcium is REDUCED β excess calcium at this stage causes permanent kidney damage. A built-in safety alert fires if chicks are detected receiving layer pellets or oyster shell.
π€ Grower (8β18 weeks) β Bone and muscle development. Protein gradually reducing. Greenery introduction phase.
π Layer (18 weeks+) β Maximum calcium demand. A single eggshell requires 2g of calcium. Oyster shell access and water quality are the highest priority nutrients at this stage.
πͺΆ Moulting Hen β Protein jumps to 20%+. This is the single most important dietary change during moult. The tool identifies this immediately and flags it.
π₯ Broody Hen β Reduced eating period. Specific guidance on supporting a hen through the broody period and preparing her for return to laying.
What your report includes:
π’π‘π΄ A traffic light summary across all 7 nutritional categories
π A detailed score per category with written findings specific to your life stage
